It depends on the actual condition of the coin and the mintage of the coin. I’ve seen 1886 Morgan dollars on auction sites going from a few dollars to $10,000 (this is for an 1886-O Morgan dollar with a “certificate” rating the coin “gem uncirculated”).

Look online at auction sites like for coins that are similar in condition to yours so that you can get a ballpark figure of what your’s might be worth.

The less common of the 1886 dollars is the 1886-S the mint mark if any is on the eagle side near the bottom below the wreath. Is worth $37-$70 in circulated grades. The others no mint mark or O is valued at $14.50 to $17 in circulated grades. Silver has gone up and the Morgan dollar has over $15.46 worth of silver, dealers would not pay that for they take a percentage off the spot price of silver as well as gold. That is why my last buy price is $14.50. the above values are about what a dealer would pay. With silver going up it may be wise to hold onto the dollar and see what happens. Even if it is the 1886-S a few more years will see it’s value increase.
