"A Guide Book of United States Coins" 44th Edition (The Red Book) values that coin at $45.00 in MS-63 condition. $23.00 at MS-60 condition. A scan of E-Bay will also give you an idea of it's worth. Otherwise a trip to a coin shop is in order.

( The 1899-O (New Orleans mint) had a mintage of 12,290,000 and is not the rare one of that date. The 1899 with no mint mark (Philadelphia mint) only had a mintage of 330,000 it is scarce. Your coin in Mint State 63 has a value of $35. That is about what a dealer would pay. Before buying coins the old Axum is "to buy the book before the coin." That works out okay if one knows what they want to collect. You should get what is called a Red Book a guide to U.S. Coins and a book on grading U.S. coins. The collector that makes out in the end is one that knows more than the dealer about the series they collect. I have bought some very rare varieties of coins for a common price. I noticed the variety the dealer did not. You can not learn everything over night, i would be glad to help. Email me here and I will give my regular email address so we will have more writing room. You could also join a coin club.
