I have a 1882 Morgan silver dollar. Right under In God We Trust, the word COPY is written. Can anyone explain?
LG asked:
This coin looks real and is in very good condition. Does it have any value? Can someone explain the significance of the word COPY?

You’ve bought a reproduction.
If it’s silver, it’s automatically got -some- value. But probably very little beyond the value of the silver itself.
The first answerer got it right. You have a reproduction of the 1882 dated Morgan, struck according to specs in silver for collectors who want a flawless silver dollar but can’t afford the thousands of dollars for a genuine piece. Details are the same(that’s why you need the word “COPY”) except that the reproductions used replicated dies to strike the coins. I have seen many of these silver reproductions being sold in the range of $30 to $40 each, and they were actually minted in limited quantities and in high quality finish.
