It’s fun finding out the value of old coins. For the best answer, you should drop by a bookstore and go to the hobby section and get a US coin “redbook” which will have the current value (wholesale) of your coin. Depending on the condition, you could sell it to a dealer for about 50 to 75% of the book value or to a collector directly for a little more..
The 1889-P Morgan dollar has a mintage of 21,726,811 pieces. Even in uncirculated [mint]condition it is worth no more that a maximum of $22-$25.
The rarest of the 1889 Morgans are the ones minted at Carson City [ only 350,000 minted] . The 1889 CC in very fine condition would bring at least $500, in uncirculated condition about $18,000.
