My grandfather collected Silver coins and we just found them today. (He was not a 'collector' so these were kept in a drawstring bag in a metal box in the rafters of his garage) There are Morgan Dollars, Peace Dollars, Half Dollars (some Kennedy), quarters and dimes. The dates range from 1880-1976. Obviously these are not in mint condition but if clean would definitely get a better grading I'd think. My question is do we clean them as good as possible before having appraised or leave them as we found them?

I have a few questions. I went to a coin shop and found two coins. Both are graded AU by NGC.

The first coin is a AU 1884 Morgan dollar graded by NGC it is on sale for $55

The second coin is a AU 1890 Morgan dollar graded by NGC (personally I think this coin could easily be graded MS-60, quite a bit of mint luster present) it is on sale for $65.

Which coin should I purchase?

My husband and I won the contents of a storage building for 100 bucks because the renters diden't pay there storage fees. We got some broken furniture, toys, an old tv some clothing 2 motercycles some junk and a shoe box of coins some worthless some not Iv been googleing some of the coins this 1900 morgan silver dollar I came up with a value of $11,000!! and some of the other coins were sets of Carver Washington half dollars all these coins are in little plastic cases with ms67 and sgs graded stuff I don't understand what this means so Im going to buy a beginners book and learn about this coin collecting stuff now that I have some coins! I want to cash the morgan one in for its value can I get the money its worth and from where? Where do I cash these babys in or even should I cash them in?
